
Who is Violet Li?
Born in Shanghai and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, Master Violet Li now resides in Las Vegas, Nevada. Her lifelong passion for health and fitness led her to Tai Chi and Qigong. After more than 10,000 hours of dedicated study and practice, she became an indoor disciple of Grandmaster Chen Zhenglei and a 12th Generation Chen Style Tai Chi Inheritor.
In addition to studying with other renowned masters in Tai Chi and Qigong, Violet has worked closely with researchers, healthcare professionals, and fellow practitioners to better understand the therapeutic potential of these ancient healing arts. Her expertise has earned national recognition. She was a speaker at the inaugural Harvard Medical School symposium on the science of Tai Chi and Qigong in 2023 as well as at the 2026 Conference. She was appointed a Conference Ambassador for the 2026 symposium hosted. She was also honored to perform at the conference's opening ceremony on May 1, 2026.

Her knowledge
Master Violet Li's Tai Chi journey deepened under the guidance of Grandmaster Chen Zhenglei, the 11th-generation lineage holder of Chen Style Tai Chi and one of China's most respected martial arts masters. She considers it a great privilege to have received his private instruction, gaining invaluable insight into the depth and essence of the art.
In 2012, she was accepted as an Indoor Disciple of Grandmaster Chen. She was later certified as a 6th Duan Senior Tai Chi Instructor by the Chen Zhenglei Taijiquan Federation in 2019. In recognition of her dedication and expertise, she was entrusted in 2023 with the responsibility to accept disciples into the Chen Style Tai Chi tradition.
Beyond Tai Chi, Master Violet Li has also deepened her knowledge of Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine through studies with Grandmaster Effie Chow, Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming, and other renowned masters in the healing arts. This diverse training has enriched her understanding of internal cultivation and the therapeutic applications of these traditions.

Her Experience
With a strong background in journalism, Violet Li has authored more than 800 articles on Tai Chi, Qigong, and meditation, reaching readers in over 40 countries. Many of her writings have been translated into multiple languages.
She has served as a contributor to Kung Fu Tai Chi Magazine, the largest English-language martial arts publication, and as a columnist for Chinese Wushu, one of the most prominent martial arts magazines in China. She was also invited by American Express Essentials to write a Tai Chi 101 feature, and her articles are published on her personal website, www.VioletLiTaiChi.com.
In addition to her writing, Violet has taught Tai Chi and Qigong across a wide range of settings, including corporations, universities, senior centers, gyms, private studios, and the St. Louis Chinese Language School. She has also volunteered extensively, offering instruction to organizations such as Business People in Between Jobs, Mathews-Dickey Boys & Girls Club, AT&T, and community programs like Open Streets organized by the St. Louis Mayor. In recognition of her service and contributions, she received the President’s Volunteer Service Award from the White House in 2012 and 2013.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Violet founded and hosted the “Free Tai Chi & Qigong Lessons” online platform, producing over 130 sessions that reached a global audience spanning 30 countries. She also served as the executive producer of the instructional DVD Tai Chi 24, created in collaboration with Tai Chi instructors in St. Louis, Missouri. Her work has been featured by both national and local media through interviews and news coverage. In addition, she has delivered presentations on the health benefits of Tai Chi to organizations such as the Parkinson Association, churches, Zonta International in Taipei, and other community and professional groups.

In addition to her work in the healing arts, Violet Li has an extensive professional background in the information technology and academic sectors.
She previously served as a Senior Program Manager in the IT industry before fully dedicating herself to Tai Chi and Qigong in May 2015. Earlier in her career, she held senior leadership roles as Director of Operations, Market, and MIS for a Fortune 500 company.
Her academic experience includes teaching International Communications at the Graduate School of Communications, Economics and Money & Banking. She also collaborated and published two academic studies on the healing arts. This diverse professional background reflects her interdisciplinary expertise across business, technology, and education.

In 2012, Violet Li was accepted as an Indoor Disciple of Grandmaster Chen Zhenglei, a 9th Duan Tai Chi Grandmaster and one of China’s Top Ten Martial Arts Masters, internationally recognized for his contributions to Chen Style Tai Chi.
In addition to her core lineage training, Violet has studied with numerous respected Tai Chi and Qigong masters, including Master Huixian, Master Jesse Tsao, Master Jun Sheng Han, Master Zhang Xue Xing, Grandmaster Yang Zhenduo, Grandmaster Wu Wenhan, Grandmaster Ma Hailong, Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming, Grandmaster Sun Yongtian, Grandmaster Miao Fusheng, and Grandmaster Effie Chow. Through decades of dedicated study, she has drawn from a wide spectrum of traditions within internal martial arts and healing practices. This depth of training enables her to guide students with a well-rounded and practical understanding of Tai Chi and Qigong as transformative health practices.
